SPECIAL LIVEJOURNAL SURVEY:

  • WHAT'S THE STORY BEHIND YOUR LJ USERNAME? SunseenLi is the identity I use for just about everything. I moved back to NYC in the eighth grade, after being gone for three years, and all my former friends had changed and didn't really like me anymore, so I started hanging out with this different group of girls, who all happened to be Cantonese. One day they were all talking about their Cantonese names, and I felt kind of left out, so they decided to give me one. They asked me what my hobbies were (and if you've read above, you'll see what they are.) When I told them, they said I had way too many to just pick one to name me after, so they chose "Sunseen", which meant like "angel" or some other sort of heavenly deity, so that it was all-encompassing. Years later when I had to make an AOL screen name at my grandparents' house, I tried a few that were all taken, so I finally used Sunseen. When I got my own account here in NYC, I added on the "Li" because Sunseen had become such a part of my life, and now I use it for just about everything.

DEEP THEOLOGICAL QUESTIONS

Do you believe in the traditional view of Heaven and Hell?
No

Do you think God has a gender?
I don't believe in god. I believe people create god in their own image.

Do you think science counteracts religion?
I think the word you're looking for is contradict. I think religion tries to contradict science, like a first grader tries to correct the teacher.

Do you believe in organized religion?
Do I believe it exists? Yes. Maybe it's better than disorganized religions, who knows.

Where do you think we go when we die?
It depends on whether you chose to be cremated or buried, I suppose.

Do you feel a little funny thinking about the questions in this section?
Not at all, do my answers make you feel a little funny?

HUMOR

How easy is it to make you laugh?
Try tickling me :)

What person you know makes you laugh the most?
You know, I don't know. I make me laugh.

Do you laugh at jokes you know you shouldn't?
Yes, but not at the ones you're thinking of.

Do you tell jokes you know you shouldn't?
Rarely...I hate puns, I always feel terrible when I point them out.

What words instantly make you laugh or at least smile?
Chicken is a funny word. Space chickens is funnier.

What do you think is the funniest thing you've ever said or written?
Anything I've written or said while I'm depressed, tired, or sick, is usually hysterical. Or angry. Read some of my LiveJournal entries.

MUSIC

Do you ever dance to music when nobody's watching?
Of course

What is/are the worst song(s) you have ever heard?
The list is endless. But the one that came to mind immediately was someone made like a dance mix of the love song from the Disney animated version of Robin Hood. WTF? Who else even knows that song but me?

What song(s) do you wish you could understand a little better?
Uh...anything by Counting Crows ::laughs:: I think I know what they mean, but I'm probably reading into it way too much. Now I have to explore "Where's Neil When You Need Him?"

What song(s) are constantly in your head?
My head is like a radio station. I wake up with stupid crap in my head. Lately a lot of the songs from "Rock Band" are rehearsing in my head.

If you were to serenade the object of your affections, which song(s) would you use?
"For The Longest Time" by Billy Joel. Or any of the cute songs I make up.

If the object of your affections were to serenade you, what song(s) would you hope he or she used?
There's this song, I forget who it's by, but I think it's called "Wonderful Tonight". Or maybe the song from the Labyrinth, from the ballroom scene? The songs with "Tell me all your thoughts on God" or "You remind me of who I really am" really appeal to me, too. God forbid there was ever a song about wanting to be a girl's inspiration, instead of the girl BEING the inspiration, I'd probably fall head over heels in love.

MOVIES

What movie(s) do you love that nobody else seems to?
Don Juan de Marco, the Fatal Fury movies of course, and the Crow

Do you agree with the idea that sequels are always worse than the original?
I would like to say that isn't a rule, but I'm having a tough time thinking of an example to the contrary.

Who's your favorite Star Wars character?
Han Solo

What kind of movie do you think there should be more of?
Uh...hm. Movies that are scary without being gory or gross or slasher.

What movie(s) do you simply not understand the appeal of?
Stuff that is completely offensive. I'll laugh at almost anything, but I wanted to walk out of Something About Mary. ::laughs:: I did walk out of A Thin Red Line, but that was for a different reason.

FOOD

When eating, are you more concerned with taste or healthiness?
Lately, both.

What's your favorite kind of cheese?
Yellow American

What do you think your answer to the previous question reveals about your personality?
I am PICKY and bland

If you knew exactly what went into Chinese food, hamburger meat, etc., would you still eat it?
Yes. I survived Helen growing into her vegetarian stage.

Do you ever feel guilty eating meat?
Not really. Sometimes I wonder if going vegetarian is cheaper or healthier. But honestly, these animals are raised to be killed. As long as they are done so humanely, I'm not going to make a fuss.

COMPUTERS

Mac or PC?
PC

How much do you actually care about the inner workings of your computer, as long as it works?
I'm interested, I wish I knew more.

Do you ever begin preferring IMs to other forms of conversation?
Actually I prefer e-mail over IM at this point, I'm getting so bad.

Do you find you're different talking through IMs than face-to-face or on the telephone?
Yes, I'm much more eloquent

Have you ever ended bid on something on eBay and regretted it later?
Just once, but I didn't win that auction, and then I tried again later (when I had more money) and won and DIDN'T regret it, so maybe that wipes that away?

THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES

Have you ever wished you could experience being the other gender?
Yes

What do you love most about the other gender?
Waists. General impression of physical leanness and strength (I can't stand muscle men, but I adore slim fighting types)

What do you dislike most about the other gender?
When they fall into stereotypes of their kind

What do you understand least about the other gender?
Why some of them are attracted to the women that they are

CELEBRITIES

Do you sometimes see a movie or watch a show just because a good-looking celebrity is in it?
Uh...I will watch almost any Jim Carrey movie.

What celebrity's autograph do you want most?
Brandon Lee, but he's dead, so I'll go with Weird Al

Have people ever said you looked like a celebrity, and if so, who?
When I was a kid, I used to get told I looked like Alyssa Milano (yes, from her Who's The Boss? days) Then when I was a teenager I got told once I looked like Alyssa Milano before she got hot (thanks, Pete). Now the celebrity I hear most is Jennifer Love Hewitt, but I honestly don't see the resemblance at all.

If there was to be a movie about you, who do you think should play you (in personality, looks or both)?
Alison imitates me quite well. As far as celebrities, however...I can't think of a one.

Does it ever annoy you when you know someone is a celebrity but you can't remember why?
It's not that I can't remember. I can't figure it out.

If you could enter any celebrity's mind like in "Being John Malkovich", whose would you enter?
Uh...Jackie Chan's. :) He's so cute and I'd learn his moves!

Do you want to be them?
Not especially

NUMBERS

Do you laugh when you hear or read the number 69?
No

Were you lying about your answer to the previous question?
No

Do you actually know your Social Security Number?
Yes--by the end of the first week of college, you've got it memorized

Do you actually know your IP address?
No, it changes every time I sign on

Do you know what an IP address is?
Yes

Do you know the four-character extension on your ZIP code?
I think so.

Ever thought there were too many numbers floating around in our lives?
I've noticed there are a lot of them. I don't know how many is too many though.

Does your head begin to hurt when you think of infinity, imaginary numbers, irrational numbers, etc.?
No, but I get frustrated, because I think it's really, really cool (I used to love math) but I know I'm not smart enough to understand.

What do you think of pi?
Secret of the universe :)

LOVE, SEX AND ALL THAT

Did you get a little frightened or uncomfortable seeing this as a section title?
No, my reaction was similar to Ryn's. Questions that are repeats will be deleted.

If someone you had no interest in dating expressed interest in dating you, how would you feel?
Depends on the person. I'd probably get slightly uncomfortable.

Do you prefer getting to know someone first before dating them or going in "blind"?
Definitely getting to know the person.

Could you carry on a relationship with someone with the same first name as a family member?
Yes

Have you ever wished it was more "socially acceptable" for a girl to ask a guy out?
No. Such things don't intimidate me.

What's your opinion on sex without emotional commitment?
I think sex leads to emotional attachments. I hesitate at the word commitment.

Have you ever been romantically attracted to someone physically unattractive?
I have been romantically attracted to people who other people find physically unattractive. But that I found...no. I'd be such a hypocrite.

Do you think the opposite sex finds you good-looking?
Some of them

Would you be willing to give up sex in exchange for an emotional commitment you knew would last?
No

Do you think the number of the last question was a coincidence?
If it was, you're spoiling it by mentioning it.

POSSESSIONS

What physical, tangible possession do you want most?
Sailor Moon Infinity, maybe.

How badly do you want it?
Not bad enough to sell stuff to get it

Have you ever seen 'The Exorcist'?
Yes, and it sucked. "Repossessed" was a much better movie.

How long did it take you to understand why the last question is in this section?
I figured it out before I read this question, so not too.

HOLIDAYS

Does Christmas music too far away from Christmas annoy you?
YES.

How old do you think you will be before you stop liking getting older?
Not sure.

What was the best Halloween costume you ever had?
I'm thinking this year's Emmy costume is going to be the highlight of my life. :)

What was the worst Halloween costume you ever had?
I used to make my own "Raggedy Ann" costume as a kid to pass out candy on Halloween. That must've been pretty lame.

What holiday do you think has still managed to retain its original meaning?
Fourth of July comes closest, I guess.

There are currently no federal holidays during August- what should be put there?
Something involving the beach. Skin Cancer Awareness day, maybe. (Sorry. I'm getting perverse--this is a long survey.)

MEMORIES

How good is your short-term memory?
Usually okay, goes on the fritz occasionally

How good is your long-term memory?
There are giant gaping holes in it, and I'm not sure why.

What is your earliest memory?
Uh...hm. Running away from home (yeah, I only made it down the driveway, and it wasn't so much running as slowly walking) in my pajamas.

What is your happiest memory (other than receiving this survey)?
Uh...Hm. I'm not really sure. I think all memories undergo the blurring and filtering of time. The time my father brought my best friend, Melissa, to Pennsylvania during summer vacation, and surprised me by lifting her up and dumping her in my lap comes to mind. I was so happy I cried.

What is your strangest memory?
Don't ask. Anything involving Robin. :) (Just kidding, dear.)

What song, movie, etc. do you wish you could memorize?
COULD memorize?? How about, wish I could forget! I can quote ALL Simpsons! ARGH! Actually, wait, no. There is one. The opening theme to Sailor Moon.

TEARS

What movie makes/made you cry?
Fatal Fury makes me depressed. What Dreams May Come was pretty depressing.

What book makes/made you cry?
Oh God...Time Enough For Love. When Dora died, I actually cried.

What song makes/made you cry?
Ha ha. The theme song to Evening Shade makes me tear up. How fucking retarded am I.

What makes/made you laugh so hard you cried?
Generally, if I'm around Matthew, if one of us says something that is so horribly I KNOW I shouldn't laugh at it, I collapse into hysterical laughter. Like, I was tyring to illustrate a point, and I said it's not like I go around crushing puppy skulls with my feet, and for some reason I just had to burst into giggles. Sick, I know.

THREE TRULY RANDOM QUESTIONS

Would you like to be cloned?
I'd give it a whirl

Do you wish you could be alive when the world was ending, just to experience it?
God no

Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening me! (We actually got to sing that in chorus, how cool was Miss Brown?)

THIS SURVEY

Do you think that one hundred and one questions is too long?
Not if they are good questions. This one made the page.

Do you think the one hundred interesting questions actually were interesting?
Most of them.

Are you sorry you began filling it out?
Not at all.

What question do you wish it had asked?
It did quite well with coming up with new stuff.

How would you have answered it?
I didn't really answer.

THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS

When was the last time you let the people you love know you love them?
Often, often, and often. As often as they needed to hear it, anyway.

What do you want the people who are reading this survey to know?
If you spot any repeated questions in this survey, please let me know so I can take them out.

PAST AND FUTURE

1. What was the very first thing you can remember wanting to be when you grew up?
Probably the first female bronc rider, or a barrel racer.

Right now I'm a secretary (or an "administrative assistant.") I imagine I will be one all of my life.
3. Why the switch from the first dream to the current?
I'm not in the rodeo scene anymore. We stopped going really when we moved upstate, and we sold our horses when I was in high school. Plus it's not like there's a lot of money in it. ::grins::
4. What was your first word?
"Dada". It's easiest for young children to pronounce, and plus when you're home alone with your mom all day, she always says things like, "Daddy's coming home soon!" The story of my first sentence is much more interesting.
5. Who is your favorite relative, why?
My cousin John. The only one in the family who was relaxed and funny and musical and creative. He committed suicide when I was 4. That should tell you something about my family.
6.What place would you like to see that you have never seen?
Japan, Montana, Paris, London...there are probably a few more on the list.
7. Who is someone that you have always found interesting, but never gotten around to talking to?
Nonsense. Anyone I've ever met who I found interesting I managed to speak to. Uh...I got inexplicably tongue-tied around the artist of Interns. He's not so gorgeous he takes my breath away, but for some reason, I get really quiet around him. Don't know why.
8. What is something that you wish you knew how to do, but don't yet?
Good god. Speak Japanese. Change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, and die gallantly. I've got quite the list.
9. Name a book that you've been meaning to read for years, but haven't gotten around to:
The Oz books.
10. Describe the last party you went to that you really enjoyed.
The Spooktacular ROCKED.

Describe your girlfriend/boyfriend/interest: I wanna be a lion/Everybody wants to pass as cats/We all want to be big big stars, yea but we got different reasons for that
Where would you rather be?: When I look at the television, I want to see me staring right back at me/We all want to be big stars, but we don't know why and we don't know how/But when everybody loves me, I'm going to be just about as happy as I can be
