Originally when we were planning costumes for New York Comic Con 2010, JenyBean and I were planning on semi-matching; her husband Matt has become a big Green Arrow fan, so she was going to make him a Green Arrow costume and herself a Black Canary costume, so I figured if she was going to run around in fishnets, I might as well too, so I was going to give Zatanna another appearance. But as the con got closer it became clear that Black Canary wasn't going to be done in time, so Jen decided she was going to rewear her amazing Wonder Woman costume.

I wanted to match her, but I couldn't think of how. What other women are in Wonder Woman, or are even on her level? Even her villianesses (Cheetah? Really?) are pretty forgettable. So then I started thinking, JenyBean had made Wonder Woman because that was her all-time favorite character...maybe it was time to finally cosplay mine.

I've loved Rogue for at least as long as I've loved Chun Li, and certainly longer than I've loved Sailor Mars. I can remember trying numerous variations on her name for my username when I first signed up for AOL, but of course, they were all taken. So why did it take me so long to cosplay her? Well, fear, mainly. Partially because I love her so much that I was terrified I couldn't do her justice, but partially because "spandex is a privilege, not a right". But, you know, I was about to turn thirty. Sure, my body wasn't as perfect as I wanted it to be, but was it ever going to be? Wasn't now as good a time as any?

Very little was done by me for this costume. I bought white hair spray to turn my bangs white, but the rest is just what I was born with. Special thanks goes out to my dear Setsunachan, as always, for making this absolutely gorgeous and perfect in every way costume. Thanks to her and Harukachan, one of my dearest cosplay dreams come true. This has quickly become one of my favorite costumes, and I hope to wear it many more times in the years to come.

In 2012, I had dyed my hair black to be Sailor Mars for Otakon, so Patti graciously loaned me her Rogue wig for New York Comic Con that year.
