Original Concept Sailor Mars

"These were the original outfits I thought of when Sailor Moon's TV show first got a greenlight.  Pretty weird, eh?"

Blah blah blah, all of Sailor Mars's costumes, blah blah blah. Heh.

That aside, what really inspired me to do this costume was Song of Amazon's *amazing* original concept Sailor Mercury costume, which I LOVE. Mercury's is really my favorite of the original designs (Sailor Jupiter's is my least--what were you thinking, Takeuchi-san?) but Mars's is certainly cute; I REALLY love that all of the senshi originally had masks, not just V and Moon. And as far as I could tell, no one else had done this version before. And, of course, it was another excuse to hire Setsuna-chan!

She did a fantastic job. While I was nervous about wearing something that would expose my stomach for the first time ever, it was a good training experience, as the Umi costume I knew I'd be wearing in the next few weeks was even more revealing. I ended up taking off the mask more often than I had it on, but it looked perfect. Having so much jewelry on was actually a lot of fun. And while I was impressed at how spot-on the heels were, they were, unfortunately, a tad too big, and Naoko's design of having almost no sides to them made them hard to keep on and walk around in--luckily I was smart enough to bring an extra pair.

It's a little odd to wear this on its own, so I don't know how much I'll wear it again, but I would LOVE to wear it with some other original concept senshi. Thanks to Outer Power Inner Beauty, at Otakon 2014, I got my chance.
