Hino Rei - green outfit

"Here everyone's respective hairstyles are well suited to them. Isn't it a little different from the usual image and look?"

Hino Rei - green outfit from the fourth artbook

Sailor Moon

Made by: Store bought

Appeared: Otakon 2014

Status: ...I wear it to work, actually.

The girls of Outer Power, Inner Beauty have taken to choosing a casual-wear costume for our big Sailor Moon group, mainly because most of us have already done the costumed forms multiple times, but also because it's easier for large groups to put together their own outfits if there is little to no sewing involved. We actually chose this image almost as soon as we got home from Otakon 2012, but due to half of the core group (including me) being unable to make it to Baltimore in 2013, it got put off to 2014. The shirt was bought off of eBay, the pants were ordered on Macys.com, the barrettes were bought at CVS, and I already owned the earrings. The necklace I commissioned from Patti and Steph of Starnigh Industries, and they did their usual impeccable job.

While it's no secret I want to cosplay all of Rei's outfits, this particular image has a special, silly significance to me. After my parents divorced when I was a young teenager, I let my bangs grow out and just let my hair fall into a side part, due in equal parts to being absolutely untrained when it came to taking care of my hair, and laziness. When I was 19, I needed a change. I brought this image to my hair dresser, and asked her to cut my hair just like this. It's been basically the same ever since.
