Death

"When the first living thing existed, I was there waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job will be finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights, and lock the universe behind me as I leave."

Death

The Sandman

Made by: Me (store bought items)

Appeared: Big Apple Comic Con September 2004

Status: Semi-retired

My boyfriend LOVES comics. I mean loves. I mean 10,000 issues of love, or so, by his last estimate. So after I had dragged him to more anime cons than he thought he'd see in a lifetime, it was only fair that I accompany him to a comic con. (Not that I minded.) However, it's just not a con for me unless I'm in costume. I had recently really gotten heavily into Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, and since I owned most of what she wore already (what New Yorker doesn't have a closet full of black?) I bought a wig and borrowed an umbrella, and was on my way.

I don't feel I truly do Death justice, as she's a lot more slender, and a lot less busty than I, and honestly the wig wasn't great, but for a last minute costume, this isn't bad. And I had a lot of fun posing as her.

The wig has since been recycled and restyled to provide my boyfriend with an Edward Scissorhands wig, so this costume is retired until I can buy a new one. Update! My aunt was able to restore this wig to it's original style--if not even better--for my Lydia Deetz costume, so Death could make a reappearance at any time.
