I will literally manufacture any excuse to wear this wig again. It occurs to me I've never specified which wig this is, so let me correct that: it's Ferarri in Dark Copper Red from Arda-Wigs.

So, I figured since I had cosplayed "Natalie Rushman" last year, it was time to graduate to her real costume, Black Widow. There are a bunch of Black Widow costumes commercially available, but I didn't want one that was shiny (highlighting every lump) or one where the fabric was too thin (same problem.) There was one "theatrical quality" costume that seemed perfect--it looked like the kind of thick, tight fabric that sucked you in, rather than clung and sagged, AND it was her costume from Iron Man 2, when she still had long hair. The only problem was, it had been discontinued.

I drove my friends NUTS looking for this costume. Amazon technically had it, but selling for around $700, which was outrageous. Subscribing to an eBay saved search eventually netted me a result in a size Small, which I bought out of desperation. It wasn't until I started looking for a pair of boots on eBay that I found a Medium for sale, with completely different keywords...*and* with the guns included...AND better holsters...AND better wrist cuffs! I jumped on that in a heartbeat, and bought the boots from eBay seller cosplayfly2010 the very next day. I ended up wearing the small after all (after driving not only my friends but even my coworkers *crazier* by constantly asking them which looked better), but with the "upgrades" the second seller had included, and it worked. Oh, and fun little thing for me: the gloves are my old English riding gloves from when I was a kid. I cut the tips of the fingers off years ago, because that was cool in the 80s and I never learned anything new, and I've hung on to them ever since.

I have to admit I wasn't a Black Widow fan before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so maybe this makes me a "fake geek girl", but Jesus Christ Bananas did I have fun running around as Nat. I foresee me wearing this at every excuse in the immediate future.
